Sunday Snapshot-Boys and Dirt

It is finally time to put some sod in our yard. That would mean a huge pile of dirt arrived this week.  A certain little boy I knew was so very happy over this event!
I could not decide what photo to choose first for my Sunday Snapshot as the worry on Katie's face makes me laugh.  She seemed truly concerned over sending that truck down the hill.

However,  a little boy I know loved watching that truck fly down the hill.

The first photo was take with my Canon D60 .  Shutter 1/252  f 3.4 and ISO 160.  Edited with photoshop elements.

Saturday Garden Journal

The garden is starting to come along. My basil has grown a lot. I am hoping to get enough to make at least a little of my own pesto!

I have been working on getting the garden ready for more outside planting soon.  It is funny how this all looked straight until I took a picture from above!

The nights are longer to work outside! I love this!

The greenhouse has some things almost ready to eat.  I believe our radishs are ready along with a few peas!

Ballet Preparations-Favorite Friday Photo

This coming weekend the ballet classes I teach will be doing a ballet performance.  This will be at a dinner to help a fellow Mom who is battling leukemia.  Our hearts and prayers go out to this family as we find a way as dancers to give back. Right not it feels as though we are up to our necks in tutus!

Every good dancer must get in some daily stretch time!

A little more crafting time for me to get those hair ribbons done!
Here is the source for these hair ribbons

A special friend

A Girl Scout project this week was the serving of a local senior citizen dinner. The girls were to invite a friend to join them.  Brianna called our friend Janet to join her for the dinner.  It was so cute to watch the two of them.  Janet was so very sweet and made the day very memorable for Brianna.  I love seeing my kids have relationships that really bless them in so many ways.

Sunday Snapshot-A Day in the Life

It seems the time of year that I am trying to figure out if I am going or coming.  A lot is going on at school and just life in general.  So thankfully we have a couple minutes to stop and  smell (or water) the flowers!

Among the spring rituals there always seems to be a school play.  Riley was a pirate this year.  I have to say this kid is very thrifty and never asks us to buy anything for costumes he just gets to work creating!

He took his sisters hair clips to make his earring.  Sounded painful to me but guess it is nothing a little duct tape won't fix!

My first photo was shot with my canon D60  shutter 1/500 ISO 100 and f 4.5.  50 mm lens

Changes are coming

This week was kindergarten registration.  It will be time, come August, for both Andy and Katie to start school.  They are both ready.  Now only if I was.  My mind knows they need to go my heart doesn't want to let them.

No matter what I think they are ready to have new challenges, make new friends, and be the bigger kids they are.

I do have a little news for them though, no matter where life takes them they will always be my babies, just with bigger wings to fly!

Yes Sir

Karate is new to this family.  This week the boys moved up from white belts to yellow belts. They were both very excited for this.  Since we have been taking Karate there have been more "yes sirs" around here. Yes even to me:)

At the end of every lesson is a little speech about "life" lessons.  These make me laugh as Andy can hardly sit through them but one would be surprised that he is actually listening. Amazingly he has told me quit a few life lessons !

Soccer is Back

We are back in the routine of soccer for Riley this spring.

As a mother I have put my heels in the ground about how "competitive" a league we are playing on.  After all that means more schedules, practice, and less time to be a family here at home.  However, I have had to adjust and embrace that we now have a bigger kid who wants to play just a little more competitively.  So this spring we let Riley play on this team with more practices and games in town.

I get it as I remember wanting to dance more and move on in the ballet world.

Of course that means taking everyone along but it looks as they too have adjusted!

I have to say I love to watch him play on that "big" field!  Maybe in the end it is just hard for Mom to watch him grow up!

These are taken with my Canon 60d and a 70-200 lens.

Saturdays Garden

These past two weeks we have been spending a lot of time in the garden. Our little apple tree for the first time has flowers on it!

The tomatoes and cucumbers are among the many greenhouse plants that are almost ready to go outside.

I love these wall of waters for my tomatoes. They are not that much fun to fill but now they are almost ready to house some of the larger tomatoes.

If this watermelon produces this year we will have some very excited kids!

I have had a horrible time getting rhubarb to grow so we will try again!

Sweetness

Found just a couple more Easter photos to post.  Our niece was as cute as could be on Easter.

The first time coloring eggs. What fun that was!

Just one and totally on the go!

Her cousins were kind enough to leave her a couple eggs!

I love her little eye poking through her hat!  I knew this hat would be short lived but how fun while it lasted. I truly think I will never get enough of little ones! How fun they are!

A little more Easter

There was no shortage of photos this Easter.  Out of the many I took this one was my favorite. Brianna is walking our little one year old niece.  I love this photo because I see in Bri what her and I have in common.  She loves babies and wanted more than anything yesterday to take care of our niece.  With all that was going on that is what she wanted.  I can understand Brianna's love of children.

Brianna and Katie right at a stopping point in the egg hunt.

The boys are all about the sport of egg hunting. They both ran to gather eggs and compare their finds.

See I do exist!  Every once in awhile I have to remember to pass my camera off so my kids can see that I was actually at some of these events!

A pond in a backyard full of gold fish was enough to make this boy sit still for a long time.  He sat and waited for them to come by and bit his finger.

Katie was funny as she did not want to use her Easter basket only a bag would do for her on this Easter!
