Favorite Friday Photo

This week while on break we had some time to be creative!  Painting that held their attention for hours.  Katie and Brianna are always creating and after a chance to warm up to his creative side Andrew would join his sisters. 

The girls painted flowers while Andy worked on characters from "The Lorax".
 

These are the moments of childhood filled with color and creativity that touches the sky.

Yarn Along

Katie's hat is finally done. I was kind of slow but hopefully it will  fit her next winter!  I started with a pattern but then did my own thing which worked out ok for me right now.  On the needles now is a hat for me!

As far as reading I am still reading "Life of Pi".  I have about a week to finish before a book club and then I have a whole list of "want to" read books!  It is spring break here and we have some snow but life is good.  We are taking a trip here soon so that will be a lot of fun!

A much needed break from life and some time to just play!  Look we aren't driving anywhere in this photo and they were playing SO well!

Sunday Snapshot- Ballet

I had to take a little time during teaching to take a couple photos of my girls and the sights of the dance studio.  So for a moment I was Mom not teacher and it was worth it.  Fun to see the girls growing and changing in ballet as my classes grow a little each year!

Favorite Friday Photo-Cup Stacking

Katie and Andy just competed in a cup stacking contest. This is a new activity for us but one that these two really like.

I had really never seen anything like it and the speed of some of those kids was amazingly fast. 

They do three different cycles or patterns in cup stacking and are timed.  This gym was packed with kids and teams.  The competition is over but you still hear those cups going throughout the week.

Miss Katie was the first to say she wanted to do this. So very unlike her personality that it was cute to see her excitement.

These ribbons were not won today but it has taken me this long to get this photo of Mr. Riley's medals.  He is a very modest boy but he agreed to let me document these for our album.  He was in a Karate tournament this past weekend and this is what he brought home.

Sunday Snapshot- Happy St. Patrick's Day

My two little Irish friends.  Today is about their heritage.  Brian's family is Irish and they very much identify and celebrate on St Patrick's Day.

With a family of many different backgrounds they all seem to love to discuss and celebrate "their" day.

Favorite Photo- A date with my cowboy

It was Andy's turn to have a date with Mom. We dropped off sister to piano and we went on our little date. Before we left he went in his room and got all dressed up!

For him it meant a huge ice cream cone while he had me to himself.



Then after our snack was done we would take a little walk and he would tell me all about what is interesting in a six year old life. 

He loved be the sole man in my life at this moment in time. That grin is the one I love and believe me he knows it! 
I have one more date to go with Miss Brianna and then one day we will start the cycle again.  They are so funny to hear talk about all the places we go on our dates.  Makes you realize it is not where you go but more about the individual time you have!

Today was all about ballet, costumes, more choreography and parent visitation tonight!

Yarn Along

Wanted to once again join yarn along with Ginny. I am hoping to finish Katie's hat soon. I know just as spring comes and she doesn't need it.  I have a very special knitting project next that I really need to get on my needles. Can't share the details of this yet but hopefully soon!  I am starting to read Life of Pi for our book club this month. Just in the very first few pages.  Wish I didn't have to sleep so I could read all night!

It is cold and grey outside but these oranges were bright in the kitchen so I could not resist.  It has been a dark week in our community with the passing of a young child at school. Once again the reminder that nothing in life is forever.

A report on St Patrick

Sunday Snapshot- A sledding party

The weather had said we would get a half an inch this weekend. I do believe they were wrong. It snowed all day long.  The sledding party happened anyway with just a change in location but still some happy sledders.

We had barely parked the car and they were already on the hill.  It was all about speed and snow just flying up in your face.

What can I say this was our nieces look after I had gone down with her. Think she was much happier sledding on her own!

My sisters loved it also!

Miss Katie made her own tiny hill and was more than happy. I did wonder how many lbs of snow this girl ate!

Brianna loves it when her Grandma is around.  She is as tough as the boys but needed a moment of hugs from Grandma. The birthday week has now completed and with it a wonderful snow. Ready to see some green and how this moisture will help!

Favorite Friday Photo- Eleven

The lemon pie was a success.  The new eleven year old in our house approved.  It was a simple family night with his dinner of choice and then we watched videos of the day he was born.  It always amazes me how much Brian and I have aged in those years and how little he was as we started our adventure in parenthood. 

Don't you just wonder what they wish for? 

He told me it was a great day.  I guess in the end that is all that really matters.  

We are headed into a weekend of a sledding party and then some down time to get ready for the next week.  We will have some family stay with us which is always fun.  Brian took the big kids skiing today so it is some time for me and the littles.  Wonder what the day will bring:)
